SERMON RECAP
In Mark 6, Jesus feeds the five thousand and walks on water, revealing far more than His power to perform miracles. The crowd wanted a revolutionary king to overthrow Rome, but Jesus came as the true Shepherd sent by God to lead a deeper revolution — one that frees people from sin, fear, and spiritual emptiness. Through these miracles, Jesus invites His disciples to see life from a higher perspective and to join Him in this revolution.

The sermon challenged us to recognize that through testing, inadequacy, and ordinary obedience, God teaches us what we truly need most: Himself. The feeding of the five thousand ultimately points forward to the cross, where Jesus became the Bread of Life for us. His body was broken so that our deepest hunger could finally be satisfied in Him

SCRIPTURE: Mark 6:30–52, Psalm 23, Ezekiel 34:11–16, Numbers 27:17, Proverbs 17:3, John 6:35, Mark 14:22, Isaiah 9:1–7

HOW TO USE THIS DISCUSSION GUIDE
As you lead the discussion, we follow a discipleship framework that helps move us from learning to transformation:
Head → Heart → Hands → Share → Check-In
Leader Reminder: There are multiple questions in each section. Leaders should prepare ahead of time and use discernment to choose the questions that best serve their group. The goal of this discussion is not just conversation but transformation. Encourage participation, honesty, and practical obedience.

ICE BREAKER
  • What is one meal or food experience you still remember because it was unexpectedly meaningful or memorable?
  • Have you ever had a moment where a change in perspective completely changed how you saw a situation?
  • What is something people tend to worry about most today? Why do you think fear and anxiety are so common?

HEAD
What does the scripture show?
  • Describe the situation in Mark 6:30–44. How does Jesus respond when He sees the crowd, and why?
  • How does Jesus respond to the disciples’ request to send the crowd away? What does this interaction reveal about the disciples and about Jesus?
  • How are the crowds fed? What does this miracle teach us about Jesus and about how His kingdom works?
HEART
What do we believe?
  • We learn from this account that, “Life must be understood as a spiritual test.” Where do you sense God testing or stretching your faith right now?
  • Why is it difficult for us to admit our inadequacy and dependence on God? How does embracing our need for Him change our perspective and the way we live?
  • Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” What does this truth mean for you in your current circumstances?
HANDS
Practice Together in Community
  • Where are you being a spectator instead of actively participating in His revolution? What is one specific way you will live differently this week knowing that you are fully loved and satisfied in Christ?
  • The sermon reminded us that miracles begin with what we already have. What is one resource, opportunity, gift, or part of your story that God may be asking you to place in His hands this week?
  • What is one practical way you can serve or encourage someone this week out of the fullness you have received from Christ?
  • What do you need from the group right now—prayer, encouragement, wisdom, or accountability?

SHARE: MISSION
